tiptoe

dear new friends and old,
we are leaving in a few hours to spend
some time with family and to continue our
labor of love, restoring the 100 year old
house on our farm. i’ll be back on Tuesday,
in the meantime i thought i would repost this
poem, my second after joining 20 Lines A Day
in April.

thank you all for your continued and constant
encouragement, it means so very much to me.

if it weren’t for all of you, i wouldn’t be writing
this poetry of mine. please know what a gift you
have given me, that some days i still can’t believe
this is my blog, these are my words and you all,
are my friends.

thank you, so very much,
{{{ h u g s }}} and *smiles* to you all

Amid this winter’s grey mist grip
our April mocks her Spring impression.
Rush hour red lights stop and start,
frustrated and my happened glance at

a waif like girl no more than nine,
she’s mouthing words of imagined rhyme.
I watch her whispering monologues
as she tiptoes boulders in the park.

Pure innocence her soft protection
from cruel worlds I suffer much too well.
I mouthed my thank you to the waif
and she tiptoed boulders until dark.

Have a lovely time with your family, and enjoy this little time away. Best of luck with the restoration, too!

    • oh, you’ve made me so happy seeing you on my pages again, what a wonderful sendoff. i’m sure to have some words written about our work, there is something very special about bringing a very old home, back to life.

      {{{ h u g s }}] and *so smiling now*, ty.

is it only a few months since you tiptoed into the blogging word with your winsome words? Now you have a real spring in your step and an enviable project. Wishing you another hundred years!

    • yes, only since March, i guess i’ll need to come to terms with it soon and just accept it already! *smiles* and thank you for all your encouragement, it means an awful lot Laura.

    • we just got back a bit ago, and thank you it was a work filled, smile rich and hug sharing 3 days. i’m so glad you like this poem, i remember that day so clearly looking at that little girl, so deep in her imagination and unaffected by the world. a wonderfully, innocent reminder i really needed that day. *smiles*

  7. Chatty Owl says:

    Gosh this is beautiful.

    • and you are so sweet to offer such a beautiful compliment, ty. geez, remembering that day after seeing her, words started to arrive so i pulled over and the whole poem basically spilled out right there in the car. it’s interesting to read previous work, i don’t do it very often, do you?

      • Chatty Owl says:

I rarely do, to be honest. I used to in the past, but that always resulted me getting annoyed with my own words and i would delete and discard the poems or any other writings. So i stopped. There were lots of annoyed people after my “clear outs” haha

  8. Happylifeaholic says:

As always, I love your poetry. 🙂

  9. Noora says:

Hope you are having a wonderful time.

    • we really did, the deep satisfaction one gets from honest labor. the bones are suffering a little but it was definitely worth it. and feeling as though i belong in that family now…not sure i can really describe how that feels.

    • yes we did Noora, thank you. that house, the farm and spending time with the family is the trip i look forward to with so much anticipation, and we are making so much progress working together restoring the house. we began talking about gardens for the first time this weekend, a seed i planted last year that is bearing fruit!
      {{{ h u g s }}}and *smiles*

      • Noora says:

… so glad to hear you had wonderful time with the family and your “labor of love” is progressing well. *Smiles*.

      • Noora, there is ‘something’ about that farm, that speaks to me of home more than anyplace i’ve owned or lived before, and having my adopted family and Scout there, all of us working towards restoring this house that they all grew up in…i love it there, can you tell? {{{ h u g s }}} and *smiles* to YOU my friend.

  10. Sharmishtha says:
