and if i
sound wde eyed,
it’s because
i am.
i’m
a little
in awe of what
i’ve become,
so late
in my
day.
this poem was submitted to
20 Lines A Day prose and poetry

A late discovery is always sweet.
and the secret oft times lies within.

brings back memories beebee
hearing your words, knowing mine evoked some memories is why i will continue to write.there is no greater compliment, at least to this humble writer.
Wine gets sweeter with time,so can people. Everyday is an opportunity to learn new things about one’s self.
from your words to my ears, i believe so much in our ability to repair and reinvent ourselves. we might need a little help along the way and i’ve certainly recieved my share.
thank you and keep the ::::light::::
Reblogged this on Teacher as Transformer and commented:
Each day should bring up a sense of renewal. It would be like picking up the edge of the ocean, shaking it out a bit, and letting it find its place again. This is a beautiful poem that gently reminded me of the need for self-renewal each moment, each day. Take care.
i am so humbled that my words have resonated again with you my friend, you honor me yet again, ty for this.
and with my heart opening a bit more each day, the return of that childlike curiosity, the awe and the sheer wonder of it all. that’s why i love that GIF so much, it’s so perfect.
That is what caught my eye was the visual. Another person likened it to shaking out a comforter on a bed. We used to go out back and shake the mop after sweeping the hardwood floor.
yes, we shook out our rugs in our small backyard in Brooklyn as well, back in the day. π
that GIF is one of those pieces of art that i wish i had created, it will always represent the pure curiosity of a child, fearless in whatever they would find. thank you again my friend, we will visit again i’m sure of it.

[…] renewal banner of innocence a parting of ways continues…. […]
i think “nothing is ever late”…it just comes to us when we are ready for its truth…you are much too hard on yourself….beautiful thoughts of yours led me to this realization…
yes, you are so right, ‘everything in its time’, unfortunately scathing self criticism has been a lifelong struggle of mine. only recently have i begun accepting myself, flaws and all. love did that for me, that’s why i write about it so often. *smiles* and thank you for your kind words.
yes…when we begin to love ourselves, what a relief, what a JOY that we are part of humanity…the ONENESS…
“and if i
sound wde eyed,
itβs because
i am.”
hhmm… thank you for reading this, my friend. i am so fond of this poem, it was the first one i submitted to 20 Lines at the beginning of April and the overwhelming encouragement just spurred me on, to write another.
and honestly, i still feel wide eyed, maybe more so now. so amazed am i, that i am writing this poetry of mine
thank you for your wonderful compliments {{{ h u g s}}} and *smiling now*
I love how you convey humility, wonder, redemption and triumph in so few words. Eloquent and elegant, my friend.
geez, that was my first poem submission to 20 Lines a Day in April.
seems like half a lifetime ago, ty for your kind words Sirena,
and for keeping me in your thoughts.
Maturity is magic when it comes to writing. Love this poem!
ty so much Bianca, truth be told i have a soft spot for it too. this was my first poem, submitted in April to 20 Lines a Day poetry community during National Poetry month. i got so much encouragement , i wrote another…..
I’m glad that you were encouraged. Your voice deserves to be heard. x
well, i really appreciate that Bianca, ty. but i still pinch myself every few days when i realize what i’m doing, and how obsessed i am with poetry now and writing in general.
life takes us on such mysterious journeys sometimes…lol!
[…] But I did, flying by the seat of my proverbial pants, against every fear and anxiety I wrote renewal. I was so heartened and overwhelmed by the response, I wrote […]
